Tuesday 20th January 2015

There was an important anniversary this week as Tuesday 20th January marked the 750th birthday of the first parliament of elected representatives at Westminster, the de Montfort Parliament. To mark this event we have thought about the origins of democracy in assembly and how democratic systems show value for everyone's opinions.
We talked about the early democratic processes in Athens including the use of a red rope to encourage voters to cast their vote!

Go to the British Museum site: see how many voters you can encourage!

Welcome to the gallery! Please enjoy browsing the children’s work.
