We are a dynamic, creative, highly-motivated and passionate team based in the heart of historic Maritime Greenwich. Our specialist provision for deaf children is wholly integrated and all members of our community learn British Sign Language. Our school is a four-form entry based across two campuses.

  • The Role:

    • Lead the school in a collaborative co-headteacher partnership, sharing responsibility for all aspects of school leadership and outcomes

    • Work with the Executive Headteacher, and governing body, to sustain the school’s ethos and to set the strategic direction of the school.

    • Foster a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and continuous improvement

    • Take a lead role in curriculum development, staff professional development, and the operational management of the school

    • Champion the Centre for Deaf Children and all aspects of inclusive education

EYFS Teacher / YGL

    • You are an experienced teacher with a track record of success in EYFS. This post is not suitable for ECTs.

    • You have a deep understanding of the EYFS framework and a passion for creative, play-based learning.

    • You are eager to embrace our inclusive ethos and are interested in (or already proficient in) BSL.

  • This is a pivotal role for a teacher to work as part of our highly valued Reception team. As the Reception teacher you will: 

    • Show how your teaching has directly improved outcomes (e.g., GLD—Good Level of Development) for diverse groups of learners.

    • Demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of how to balance child-initiated play with purposeful, adult-led "teachable moments."

    • Show how you create a "third teacher" through a stimulating indoor and outdoor environment that encourages independence for all children. 

    If you are applying for the Year Group Leader for the four classes, you must be highly skilled and knowledgeable and have experience in Early Years teaching. As a result you will:

    • Oversee the teaching and learning across four Reception classes, ensuring high-quality provision and outcomes.

    • Be an exemplary classroom teacher, setting the standard for EYFS pedagogy.

    • Work closely to oversee our wider Reception team and our SEND team to create a fully inclusive experience for all children, including those with SEND.

    • Ensure all children achieve their potential despite their starting point

    • Support and empower your fellow teachers and support staff to flourish.

EYFS Practitioner / HLTA

  • Purpose of the Job: To work at a senior level within the Early Years team to provide high-quality care and purposeful education. The post-holder will take a lead role in planning and implementing the EYFS curriculum, mentoring junior staff/apprentices, and ensuring the integrated provision for children within the Centre for Deaf Children is seamless and effective.

  • Teaching, Learning & Assessment

    • Model exemplary early years practice, balancing child-initiated play with high-impact "teachable moments."

    • Lead the design of stimulating learning environments (indoor and outdoor) that function as a "third teacher" to promote independence.

    • Maintain a mastery of the Tapestry platform to record high-quality observations, track developmental milestones, and ensure all assessments are robust and accurate.

    • Utilise Tapestry as a primary tool for parental engagement, providing regular, meaningful updates to families to bridge the gap between home and school learning.

    • Work closely with Teacher of the Deaf (ToD), SENDco and named adults to adapt communication and resources for SEND and hearing-impaired pupils where necessary.

    Planning & Provision

    • Collaborate closely with the Classroom Teacher and the wider EYFS team to contribute to short and medium-term planning, ensuring a cohesive approach across the four-form entry.

    • Lead the setup of high-quality continuous and enhanced provision that inspires curiosity, provokes thought, and maintains high levels of child engagement.

    • Support EYFS practitioners in identifying and creating "invitations to play" that challenge children and align with their current interests and developmental needs.

    • Ensure the physical environment is consistently refreshed and managed to spark awe and wonder, encouraging children to explore and lead their own learning.

    Leadership & Team Support

    • Support the Teaching Assistants with their understanding and application of Development Matters.

    • Take responsibility for a specific area of the EYFS provision (e.g., Lead for Early Mathematics, Outdoor Learning, or Sensory Circuits).

    • Ensure school policies regarding behavior, health and safety, and inclusion are consistently applied across the year group.



    Inclusion & Communication

    • Actively use and promote British Sign Language (BSL) and other visual communication aids (e.g., Makaton or PECS) to support an inclusive environment.

    • Assist the class teacher in identifying children with additional needs.

    Parental Engagement

    • Act as a senior point of contact for families, conducting home visits where necessary and join parent workshops on EYFS milestones when appropriate.

    • Ensure a consistent flow of information to parents via digital portfolios, ensuring families feel empowered and informed about their child's progress.

TEACHER OF THE DEAF

Mainscale plus SEN point (£4,479)

This is a part time post - 0.4fte

We are looking for an experienced teacher of deaf children to join our team. We offer excellent training and development opportunities, supportive leaders and above all, amazing children!

Our Centre for Deaf children is a designated specialist provision within our school.  Our centre uses a total communication approach that fully utilises sign (BSL) and speech across the whole curriculum. Any candidate would be required to have BSL Level 3 or equivalent.
