Tech it, or Leave it
James Wolfe pupils have designed and made high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users in Design and Technology. They have self selected resources considering the purpose of the product and improved their design through analysis and evaluation.
Far-Flavour Foodies - EYFS
In Nursery, the children have learnt about different countries. As a part of their investigating, they made food from the different places they learnt about. They used their senses to explore the ingredients and loved having a taste of their creation once it was ready.
Forging Fun in KS1 - KS1
In Year One the children made and designed their own ‘Fun Fair’ games based on the Story they were learning about in their English lessons. They researched existing games and decided in groups which games they would like to design. They planned and designed their games then invited children from other classes to play the games that they had created.
Rapid Research & Water-Way Works - LKS1
In Year Four, as part of their topic on Romans, the children designed an aqueduct. The children researched what an aqueduct was before planning a version made from various materials. The children had to consider what materials to cover the aqueduct in to ensure water could flow through it.
Better Designs, One Form at a Time - UKS2
In Year 5 the children developed a prototype for a Winter Cross Stitch design. The children conducted market-research, asking children from different year groups what their preferred designs were. This allowed them to evaluate and refine their designs.
