Prose & Poetry
These images show writing taking place across all year groups. These images show that the children are following our James Wolfe presentation guidelines to consistently show high quality writing. They show that planning follows our writing sequence of explore, construct and compose.
Brilliantly Budding Writers - EYFS
In reception, children have been gradually writing more independently using phonetically plausible attempts in their spelling and generating their own sentences. They are writing on the line and using finger spaces. In reading, pupils have now covered all of their reception sounds for the year and are now in the process of recapping and revising them as well as reading texts in a group.
Write, Draft, Improve Craft - KS1
In Year 2, children followed the explore, construct, compose to process to produce wonderful diary entries for the character of their story. Initially the children explored new vocabulary and sentence structures, before planning and drafting a diary entry using scaffolds. Finally the children wrote a final draft and rewrote it for all to read.
Cerberus Care Guide - LKS1
This is an exploration of features of a pet care guide. We then used our STS to compose our care guide for a Cerberus. This linked to our reading, where we researched Cerberus in the book Mythologica and online. A formal tone balanced with the humour in their piece was a mature task to be given.
Stagecraft of Wordsmiths - UKS2
Y6 have been studying the poetry of the author Grace Nichols. They have developed their use of structure, layout and figurative language, focusing on the impact on their audience. This led to performing their poems. They developed skills in pace, tone and stage presence.
