Walking with Faith
This term, our focus has been on Beliefs in Action—exploring how people of faith express their beliefs through worship, stories, and celebrations. Pupils learned how actions reflect values such as kindness, respect, and responsibility. Through discussion and reflection, they connected religious practices to real-life choices, deepening their understanding of how belief can guide behaviour in everyday life.
Places of Prayers - EYFS
Reception explored the idea that some places are special to members of their community. Through stories and discussion, they began to understand that places like churches, mosques, temples, or quiet spaces at home can hold personal or spiritual significance. This laid the foundation for respectful thinking about worship, belonging, and the different ways people express what matters to them.
Light, Belief, Belonging - KS1
Year 2 studied Hinduism, focusing on beliefs about God, karma, and the importance of temple worship. They explored how Diwali is celebrated through stories, prayers, and rituals like puja and the Aarti ceremony. This helped pupils understand that religious actions often express deeper beliefs and values. They considered how shared traditions give people a sense of identity and purpose, and how belief can guide the way people choose to live.
Faith, Forgiveness, Fairness - LKS1
Year 3 explored how Christians use the Bible as a source of guidance and teaching. They looked at its structure, read stories like the Lost Sheep, and discussed the meaning behind the Ten Commandments. This led to thoughtful discussions about right and wrong, forgiveness, and how people live by their values. Pupils made links between religious teaching and their own ideas about fairness, kindness, and responsibility in everyday life.
Guided by the Mezuzah - UKS2
Year 6 explored key practices in Jewish life, including Bar and Bat Mitzvah, the significance of the Mezuzah, and the meaning of the Shema. They also learned about religious clothing such as the tallit and kippah. Through this, pupils gained insight into how Jewish beliefs are expressed through daily routines and life milestones, reflecting on how commitment and identity are shaped by faith.
