Peace, Love, Rest
This term, our focus has been on Religious Expression, exploring how people of faith communicate and live out their beliefs through worship, stories, and celebrations. Pupils learned how actions reflect values such as kindness, respect, and responsibility. Through discussion and reflection, they connected religious practices to real-life choices, deepening their understanding of how belief can guide behaviour in everyday life.
Important to Me, You, and We - EYFS
In EYFS, children explored special objects and spaces that were important to themselves and others. This work helped them to talk about what matters to them and understand that other people value different ideas and values such as kindness and respect, strengthening their awareness of their community and helping them feel included.
Best Day is Rest Day - KS1
Year 2 studied Christianity, focusing on identifying the main features of a church and the significance of Sundays. They learned how the physical building and its practices support Christians in developing their beliefs, which helps pupils respect and understand different ways of life within their local community.
No Working Allowed - LKS1
Year 3 focused on the Jewish custom of Shabbat. Pupils learned what the Sabbath Day means to Jews, how it is kept, and the importance of customs like the Shabbat Table. The appreciation pupils gained for how religious tradition translates into daily routine has encouraged them to reflect on their own routines and traditions, recognising the importance of special time with family and their sense of identity.
Peace, Calm, Tranquility - UKS2
Year 5 engaged with the ethical concept of peace, examining religious teachings (e.g., Salam) and the actions of advocates like Martin Luther King. They learned practical skills like meditation and strategies to bring inner calm. The learning challenged pupils to define their own role and responsibility in promoting peace and non-violence within their school and the wider community.
