Kindness, Care, Everywhere

The work below highlights how each key stage has been developing their understanding of their place in the world, both personally and as an exploration of citizenship.

Emotion Commotion - EYFS

This term, Reception have been exploring the Zones of Regulation to help them better understand their feelings. They have been learning to identify the different emotions associated with each zone and, importantly, learning strategies to help them return to the Green Zone - where they feel calm, happy, and ready to learn.

Circle of Smiles and Support - KS1

Year 2 have been learning about family and friendships, including what makes a good friend and the different ways people can meet and build friendships. They explored the causes of disagreements and how to resolve them positively. Children also learned how to recognise feelings of loneliness or unhappiness and understand when and how to ask for help for themselves or to support others.

Discipline and Kindness - LKS1

To further develop Year 4 understanding of the importance of self-discipline, kindness and respect for themselves and others. A parent visitor spoke to them about their own experiences of fasting and prayer within their own life. This helped pupils connect their learning to real life. It highlighted the importance of respecting differences and similarities between people.

Peer Power Positivity - UKS2

Year 5 pupils have been learning about family and friendships, including how peer influence can affect the way people think, feel and behave. They explored the impact of wanting peer approval in different situations, including online and discussed how friendships can naturally change over time. Pupils also learned to recognise when a friendship may be making them feel unsafe, worried or uncomfortable, and understand the importance of seeking support when needed.
